Big Finish For Blue Angels

Big Finish For Blue Angels

CUDAHY, Wis. – Today at the Wisconsin Private College Championships, the Mount Mary University cross country team finished sixth out of 15 teams. Fellow Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference team Edgewood finished the first through third place runners. Natasha Zanoya from the Eagles finished the six kilometer course with the pack's best 22:44.4.

The Blue Angels continued to cut times today at the WPCC. Four of the five placed runners for MMU improved their 6k times for the year, Jori Galles (So./Waukesha, Wis.) again led the Blue Angels with a 24:30.4 time. The sophomore has again set her NCAA best time and her effort earned her a 14th place finish against 126 runners.

Natalie Guyette (Jr./Shiocton, Wis.) set her best 6k time as well, shaving 24 seconds of her previous best, Guyette finished with a time of 25:00.2 in 24th place.

Teammates Danielle Sherrer (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.), Hayley Hove (Jr./Golden Valley, Minn.) and Christina Ishaq (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) all finished in the 27th minute with times of 27:15.6, 27:49.1 and 27:54.5 respectively.

Just 11 place points behind the fifth place Wisconsin Lutheran, the Blue Angels top five have been in or near the top half of every race. Guyette and Galles routinely finish in the top third of runners, and with the team's first ever conference race around the corner, the Blue Angels are setting up for a nice finish to the 2015 season.

Following today's race, the next race will be in two weeks at the NACC championship race. All other 12 NACC teams will be in attendance as Concordia Wisconsin plays host to the event set for Sat. Oct. 31 at 11:00 am.
