Blue Angels Finish Big At Conference Race

Blue Angels Finish Big At Conference Race

MEQUON, Wis. – In their first ever Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference race, the Blue Angels finished sixth out of the 11 conference teams. The finish at the Concordia Wisconsin campus adds to a great season so far for MMU, and the 154 team points earned was just five away from fifth place Milwaukee School of Engineering. Winning the race was Natasha Zanoya from Edgewood with a 22:42.0 time on the six kilometer race.

Every race this season, Jori Galles (Jr./Waukesha, Wis.) finished first out of the Blue Angels runners, and Natalie Guyette (Jr./Shiocton, Wis.) finished second for her team. This race was no exception and the two finished very close to the front of the pack.

Galles earned a 14th place finish with a 24:42.1 time. Her performance today and this season earned Galles an NACC All-Conference award. Just steps behind Galles, Guyette finished with a 16th place finish and a 24:51.8 season's best final time.

Danielle Sherrer (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) and the rest of the scorers for MMU finished within 20 seconds of each other. Sherrer finished with 26:57.5 time and a 51 place finish. Hayley Hove (Jr./Golden Valley, Minn.) and Christina Ishaq (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) had times of 27:09.0 and 27:17.3 respectively.

A sixth place finish for the Blue Angels in their first ever NACC race and an All-Conference award give MMU a big leg to stand on as they prepare for the NCAA Regionals in two weeks on Sat. Nov. 14. One of the most successful seasons since joining the NCAA to this point, with the continually shrinking times for the Blue Angels, the team is not quite finished this year.
