Blue Angels 10th At Warrior Invite

GREENFIELD, Wis. – Today the Mount Mary University cross country team took part in the 2016 Warrior Cross Country Invitational at Greenfield Park. The Blue Angels placed 10th of 16 teams in the six kilometer race. On the rainy and cool day, St. Norbert took home first place as a team, while senior Fabiola Ortiz of Dubuque finished with the top individual time of 23:46.68.

In her first race of 2016, Jori Galles (Sr./Waukesha, Wis.) finished 19th in the race, and recorded a 26:19.19 for the top six kilometer time for MMU in 2016. Prior to today's race, Galles finished her last 6-kilometer race with a 14th place finish at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships.

Christina Ishaq (So./Milwaukee, Wis.) and Natalie Guyette (Sr./Shiocton, Wis.) placed 44th and 46th place respectively in the pool of the 190 runners. Ishaq trudged the muddy and slick conditions and came away with a time of 27:38.2, just ten seconds off of her season's best time. Guyette mere paces behind with a 27:46.6.

Hayley Hove (Sr./Golden Valley, Minn.) capped off her day with a 30:55.9 time putting her in 111th place. Teammate Daniella Torres finished her first collegiate race with a 35:13.34 time.

Carlie O'Donnell (So./Sharon, Wis.) completed the track in 36:10.5 for 163 place. Getting the final team score, Mary Jenk placed 173rd with a 38:11.9 time.

After today's meet, the Blue Angels will prepare for the Lucian Rosa Invitational on the campus of University of Wisconsin Parkside. The race that spans across all divisions in the NCAA will begin at 10:00 am. Updates and times can all be found at mtmaryathletics.com.
