Ninth Place For Blue Angels

Ninth Place For Blue Angels

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Mount Mary University cross country team finished ninth today at the 2016 Lucian Rosa Invitational. This year's six kilometer race consisted of 15 different schools including NCAA Division I, II and III programs. With the temperature in the low fifties to begin the race, host University of Wisconsin Parkside seemed immune to the chill as they took first place in team scoring while the Rangers Moriah Palmer took first with a time of 21:23.4, a full 54 seconds ahead of second place.

For the second straight race, the Blue Angels were led by Jori Galles (Jr./Waukesha, Wis.) with a 54th place finish and a time of 24:59.7. Galles finished a full 72 seconds faster than her six kilometer time from last week, 29 seconds away from her collegiate personal record.

Right behind Galles, Christina Ishaq (So./Milwaukee, Wis.) finished with her 6-kilometer collegiate best 25:58.6. Her season's best going into today was 27:28 for races of this length.

Nipping at Ishaq's heels, Natalie Guyette (Sr./Shiocton, Wis.) turned in a time of 26:14.3 for her season's best time. The senior's 86th place finish provided the Blue Angels enough separation to take ninth place in the 15 total schools at the race.

Hayley Hove (Sr./Golden Valley, Minn.) continually improves this year as she finishes 150 seconds faster than her season's best six kilometer time. Hove finished the Lucian Rosa Invitational with 28.25.8 time and a 133 place finish.

Carlie O'Donnell (So./Sharon, Wis.) finished out the scoring for the Blue Angels with a 32:01.0 time.

The Blue Angels will now get ready for the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. This year's WPCC will begin at 12:15 pm on Sat. Oct. 15. For final times and updates, stay tuned to mtmaryathletics.com.
