Sixth Place Finish For Blue Angels

Sixth Place Finish For Blue Angels

SOMERS, Wis. – Today at the Wisconsin Private College Championships, the Mount Mary University cross country team finished sixth out of the 13 different schools in attendance. Host Carthage College finished first in team scoring, with Lady Red Rebecca Lamp taking home first place in individual times with a 23:32.0.

The Blue Angels sixth place finish against some of the region's top teams was right in time to prepare themselves for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships on Oct. 29. A very strong team performance for the Blue Angels this week as many players continued to shred their times.

Jori Galles (Jr./Waukesha, Wis.) led the pack this week in her third race back this season. This time Galles finished with a 25:01.9 time and in 11th place. Just seconds off her time last week at the same track.

Mere strides behind Galles, Christina Ishaq (So./Milwaukee, Wis.) finished at 25:40.8. The sophomore's 22nd place finish helped make the difference in team scoring and also offered Ishaq's top time of 2016 at six kilometer tracks.

Natalie Guyette (Sr./Shiocton, Wis.) rounded off the top three Blue Angel times with a 26:05.3 time and a 27th place finish. A season's best for Guyette also in 6-kilometer races. The top times across the board contributed to the sixth place finish for MMU.

Finishing after 27:47.6, Hayley Hove (Sr./Golden Valley, Minn.) placed 54th while averaging 7:27 per mile.

After today's race, the Blue Angels will have two weeks to get ready for the NACC Championships on Oct. 29. The conference meet is set for a 12:00 pm start and will be hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College at Greenfield Park. For updates and times, stay tuned to mtmaryathletics.com.
