Blue Angels Post Top Times

WINNECONNE, Wis. – Today NCAA Division III teams across the Midwest region were put to the ultimate test as the NCAA Regionals took place the Lake Breeze Golf Club. The Mount Mary University cross country team finished 33 out of the 38 teams in attendance at the six kilometer track. Washington University (St. Louis) finished first place in team scoring with all five placing runners in the top 25. University of Chicago runner Khia Kurtenbach finished first place in individual times with a 21:42 time.

For MMU, Jori Galles (Jr./Waukesha, Wis.) finished ahead of the pack again. Galles like three other Blue Angels finished the race with her NCAA best time at a 6-kilometer race. This time the junior led the pack with a 23:54 time and a 97th place finish out of the 264 runners.

Following Galles, Christina Ishaq (So./Milwaukee, Wis.) placed 173rd in the race, just 88 seconds after her teammate. With a 25:22 finish, Ishaq was one of the other Blue Angels to set her career mark at the NCAA Regionals.

In her final NCAA race Natalie Guyette (Sr./Shiocton, Wis.) finished the six kilometer course with her season's best time for that distance. Guyette's 25:47 finish was not only her best six time for 2016, but was also her second lowest time of the season for all race lengths.

Fellow senior Hayley Hove (Golden Valley, Minn.) finished her NCAA career shaving two minutes off her previous 6-kilometer finish. Hove and Guyette have consistently finished strong for the Blue Angels. This time, Hove recorded a 28:16 finish in her final NCAA meet.

Rounding out the scoring, Carlie O'Donnell (So./Sharon, Wis.) completed the track in 31:27 and a 249th place finish. Teammates Mary Jenk (Fr./Wild Rose, Wis.) and Sarah Anklam (So./St. Marys, Ga.) completed their first NCAA seasons with times of 32:00 and 33:19 respectively.

Now the 2016 season is complete for the Blue Angels. With many runners reaching career bests and two seniors finish their historic careers, MMU cross country is heading into a bright future. To keep up-to-date with all the MMU info, news and player updates, tune into mtmaryathletics.com.
