MMU Ninth at Warrior Invite

GREENFIELD, Wis. – Today at Greenfield Park, the Mount Mary University cross country team finished ninth out of the 15 registered teams during the Warrior Invite. St. Norbert College took first place in team scoring, while Sarah Parbs of the Green Knights took first place with 23:47.0 time on the six kilometer course.

The top tandem once again for the Blue Angels was Jori Galles (Sr./Waukesha, Wis.) and Christina Ishaq (Jr./Milwaukee, Wis.). For her second straight race, Galles was able to place in the top ten. Of the 137 runners, Galles finished seventh overall with a 25:13.52 time.

Ishaq has continued to finish in the top third of nearly every race. This time, Ishaq finished 15th at the annual Warrior Invite. Ishaq was mere paces behind Galles, as Ishaq finished her round with a 25:42.14 time. A near 90 second cut off from the harsh terrain from MMU's last race at the Tom Hoffman Invitational.

Daniela Torres (So./West Allis, Wis.) led the second wave of Blue Angels. At the 30:57.6 mark, the sophomore crossed the finish line and placed 88th officially, and 68th in team scoring. (Teams without the minimum can race individually, but are not counted in team placing.)

Carlie O'Donnell (Jr./Sharon, Wis.) finished right behind Torres with a 31:42.6 time. The junior's 72nd team placing helped her team jump above three of the four other Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference teams in the team scoring.

Mary Jenks (So./Wild Rose, Wis.), Manami Komatsu (Fr./Tokyo, Japan) and Sarah Anklam (Jr./St Marys, Ga.) rounded out the team scoring for the Blue Angels. Jenks place 79th in the team placing and posted a 32:34.9 finishing time. Komatsu tallied a 32:58.6 which put her in 81st place. Her teammate Anklam placed 84th among the team pool with a 34:32.5 finish.

Ashley Tannert (Jr./New Berlin, Wis.) completed the 6-kilometer race in 38:43.3.

Following today's race, the Blue Angels will get ready for the annual Lucian Rosa Invitational on the campus of University of Wisconsin Parkside. The race hosts teams spanning across all three divisions of the NCAA. This year's installment is scheduled for Sat. Oct. 7 at 11:00 am.
