Blue Angels Conclude Season at Regionals

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The Mount Mary University cross country team concluded their 2018 season today at the NCAA Regionals. The Blue Angels finished 36 th out of the 38 teams at the event. Wheaton's Hannah Roeske finished first in individual times with a 21:21.8 while Washington University took first in team scoring.

For the sixth straight race this seasons, Christina Ishaq (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) led her Blue Angels finishing ahead of the pack with a 26:08.8 time on the six-kilometer course. Working through a sea of nearly 300 runners and below freezing temperatures, Ishaq was able to finish in 178th place in her final collegiate race.

Pacing the pack for the Blue Angels Emily Green (Fr./Waukesha, Wis.) notched a 27:36.1 time today at the NCAA Regionals. The freshman has routinely been the second Blue Angel to cross the finish line this season. Her continued success may mean the metaphorical passing of the torch from senior to freshman.

Miranda Fluegge (So./Menomonee Falls, Wis.) turned in a 28:50.3 for her final race of the 2018 cross country season. Teammate Ana Andrade (Sr./Milwaukee, Wis.) finished in 247th place, just eight spots behind teammate Fluegge. Trudging through the cold and snow, Andrade was able to finish with a 31:01.9 in her final collegiate race.

Rounding out the team scoring for the Blue Angels was Daniela Torres (Jr./West Allis, Wis.) who finished 250th overall. Torres finished her junior season with a 33:01.1 finish time on the six-kilometer track.

The Blue Angels will finish the season with the coldest race of the season. Fighting through subfreezing temperatures, the Blue Angels tallied 36th place overall in their seventh straight appearance in the NCAA Regionals.
