Softball concludes Florida trip with win over MCLA

Leesburg, FL - The Mount Mary University softball team was unable to play as many games as they hoped on their Spring Florida trip due to weather.  However, the Blue Angels finished the trip on a very positive note with a 12-4 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

The Blue Angels used a 7 run first inning and another winning pitching performance by Brianna Lupa to cruise to a win over the Trail Blazers of MCLA.

Mount Mary (4-9) pounded out 12 hits and multiple players contributed to the offensive breakthrough.  Sam Allen and Aislinn Strusz each contributed two hits and two runs batted in, Kylie Ann Kluck connected for 2 runs batted in and Lauren Nylund also had 2 hits.

Head Coach Perry Clark, "It was great to see our bats come back to life.  I also feel like we are improving defensively with some areas we still need to clean up.  While it was frustrating to only play half of our scheduled games, I believe our underclassmen learned a lot this week.  As long as we keep improving I feel like we have a chance to have a good season."

Mount Mary will return to action on Friday, March 25th when they travel to River Forest, Illinois to take on the Stars of Dominican University.
