Softball Weekend Preview: Dominican, Knox and Eureka

Milwaukee, WI- After not competing since March 12th, a 12-4 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, the Mount Mary Softball team (4-9) is back in action this weekend.  The Blue Angels will hit the road for the state of Illinois, March 25-27, for road doubleheaders against Dominican University, Knox College, and Eureka College.

The Blue Angels begin their road swing with a doubleheader in Rosemont, Illinois, against the Stars of Dominican University.  Dominican has won 11 of their first 12 games, the Stars joined Mount Mary at the MMU Slugger series in Peoria but the two squads were not matched up.   Dominican has 4 players batting .400 or higher and will be a formidable challenge for the Blue Angel pitching staff.  Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 3 and 5 pm.

The Prairie Fire of Knox College have had a tough start to their 2022 campaign, currently sitting at 1-10.  Knox was in Peoria with Mount Mary as well, but this will be the first meeting this season between the Blue Angels and Prairie Fire.  Saturday's doubleheader will occur at the Knox Softball field in Galesburg, Illinois, scheduled for start times of 2 and 4 pm.

The Blue Angels will conclude the road trip Sunday, March 27th, against the Red Devils of Eureka College.  The Red Devils have only played 7 games thus far, with a record of 1-6.  Sunday's doubleheader start times in Eureka are 11 am and 1 pm.

Aislinn Strusz has been a reliable source of offense for Mount Mary through their first 13 games, she currently leads the Blue Angels in batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage, hits and runs batted in.  Sam Allen has knocked in 8 runs for Mount Mary and currently also leads the Blue Angels in walks.

Brianna Lupa has been Mount Mary's main force in the pitching circle, hurling 47 innings, striking out 43 and walking only 15.  She boasts an impressive era of only 3.11 thus far this season.
