Softball Wraps Up Arizona Trip

Tucson, AZ- The Blue Angel softball team completed their scheduled games in Arizona on Saturday, March 9th.  The Blue Angels took on Franklin and Marshall and Webster University, the Blue Angels were not able to generate enough offense on the day and fell in both contests.

The day's first contest against the Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall stayed deadlocked at zero until the 5th inning.  The Diplomats would score nine runs over the last three innings and won the game 9-2.  Brianna Lupa went the distance in the pitching circle and also had two hits at the plate.  Aliana Gutierrez also had two base hits for Mount Mary and Lily Fay added an rbi single.

The final contest of the Arizona swing would be against the Gorloks of Webster University.  Webster scored 12 runs in the game's first three innings which would be the margin of victory.  Aliana Gutierrez tallied another two hits for a great offensive day, Alyssa Becker also provided two hits for MMU in the game.

The Blue Angels (1-12) will head back to Milwaukee and have close to a week off before resuming game play.  They will take on Augustana University in a doubleheader on Friday, March 15th.  The games will be played at the the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria, Illinois.  All live coverage of Blue Angel softball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
