Softball in Peoria: Day 2 Recap

Softball in Peoria: Day 2 Recap

Peoria, IL- After beginning their 2025 season with a 1-1 day Thursday, the Mount Mary softball team returned to the Louisville Slugger sports complex in Peoria, Illinois for two more games on Friday.

MMU faced two tough opponents and fell in games to Loras and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.

The day's first opponents were the Duhawks of Loras College.  After three innings, Loras led Mt Mary by a 3-0 score.  The early game highlight was a great diving catch by Alexandria Eads in right field.

Taylor Hames was again solid in the circle, allowing only three runs to the Loras offense through four innings.

Unfortunately, Loras found a big inning in the top of the 5th.  Plating five runs to shoot out to an 8-0 lead, which would be the final deficit.

In the day's second game, against Wisconsin-Platteville, the Pioneers wasted no time jumping onto the scoreboard.  They scored nine times in the first inning and the game was essentially decided from there.

Platteville defeated MMU by a final score of 14-0, Amanda Nance singled for the lone Blue Angel hit in the game.

Mount Mary (1-3) will next be in action on their annual Spring trip.  The Blue Angels will play nine games in Florida, beginning March 3rd against Misericordia.   Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com for all coverage of Blue Angel softball.
