Melbourne, FL- On their second day of games in Florida, the Mount Mary softball team began their day with a contest against the Raiders of River University.
MMU took an early 2-0 lead but could not hold off Rivier as they fell in a close contest by a score of 4-3.
Alexandria Eads went the distance in the circle, scattering 10 hits and only 3 earned runs over six innings. Crystal Peterson, Amanda Nance, Jodie Penman and Micaela Gonzalez each had one hit for MMU in the game.
The second contest of the day saw Mount Mary take on Houghton University. The Blue Angels would fall behind 6-0 and remain scorelss until Amanda Nance came through with a two-run triple in the bottom of the 6th to bring MMU within four runs at 6-2.
The Blue Angels would find no other offense in the game unfortunately and fell by an 8-2 final score.
Micaela Gonzalez, Kylie Ann Kluck, Lillian Fay and Jodie Penman also had hits on the day for Mount Mary.
The Blue Angels (1-7) will have Wednesday off before returning to the field on Thursday, March 6th. Once again, MMU will play two games, at 1:30 PM against John Carroll, and 6 pm against Rose Hulman. For all updates on Blue Angel softball stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com
