Viterbo takes doubleheader over MMU

La Crosse, WI-  The Mount Mary softball team returned to action Saturday after over three weeks without a game.  The Blue Angels traveled to La Crosse to take on the V-Hawks of Viterbo University.

Mount Mary could not mount a consistent offensive attack and dropped both games to the host V-Hawks.

In game one, Viterbo pushed across a single run in the first to take a 1-0 lead.  The Blue Angels would score two in the top of the third to claim a 2-1 lead. 

The V-Hawks used a three run home run in the bottom of the third the reclaim the lead at 4-2. 

Unfortunately for Mount Mary, the V-Hawks would add on for the rest of the game and win by a final margin of 10-2.  Naomi Gomez had the lone hit for the Blue Angels in game one.

In the day's second contest, Viterbo would take a 2-0 lead in the first and add two runs in the second to take a 4-0 advantage.  The Blue Angels were unable to muster a comeback and fell by a final score of 8-0.  Crystal Peterson collected a base hit for MMU.

Mount Mary (3-12) will be back in action on Sunday, April 6th.  The Blue Angels will head to Minnesota and take on the Polars of Crown College.  All coverage of Mount Mary softball is available here on www.mtmaryathletics.com
