Lawrence holds off Blue Angels

Appleton, WI- Wednesday saw the Vikings of Lawrence University and Mount Mary Blue Angels connect in a softball doubleheader with Lawrence playing host.

Lawrence was able to win both contests by scores of 10-2 and 16-7.

The Vikings took game one by a final score of 10-2.  The Blue Angels had six hits in the contest, led by Crystal Peterson who went 2-3 with an RBI.  Micaela Gonzalez, Naomi Gomez, Alexandria Eads, and Kylie Ann Kluck also provided hits for MMU.

Game 2 saw both teams strike in the 1st inning.  Naomi Gomez and Kylie Ann Kluck knocked in runs for MMU, but Lawrence answered with 4 to take a 4-2 lead at the end of the 1st inning.

The offensive production continued for both teams, Lawrence would lead 11-2 and MMU would stage a comeback in the top of inning number 3.  Lillian Fay, Alexandria Eads and Jodie Penman came through with hits as Mount Mary pulled to 11-6.

That would be as close as MMU would pull however, falling in game two by a final score of 16-7.  The Blue Angels had 10 hits in game 2, three by Alexandria Eads and 2 each by Naomi Gomez and Micaela Gonzalez.

Mount Mary (6-23) will next be in action on Saturday, May 3rd.  The Blue Angels will host Maranatha Baptist at Maslowski Community Park in Glendale, the games are scheduled for 12 and 2 pm.  It will be senior day as the program will recognize their six outgoing seniors in a ceremony to be held in between the two games.  All live coverage will be available on www.mtmaryathletics.com
