In 2013-14, Tim Edwards was named the head softball coach at Mount Mary University.

After two seasons as an assistant coach for MMU softball and American Softball Association-certified club softball coach since 2006, Coach Edwards dedicated himself to building his teams one year at a time.

"My goal is to help keep the MMU softball program headed in the right direction by aggressively recruiting student-athletes with the desire and commitment to achieve their future goals in the classroom as well as on the field.”

A native of Lincoln, Ill., Coach Edwards built the Blue Angels program from the ground up. In the five seasons MMU was a member of the NCAA prior to the arrival of Edwards, the program had a total of 15 wins, including three winless seasons. In three seasons of coaching, Tim Edwards compiled 21 wins.

Coach Edwards was also named the Association of Division III Independents Softball Coach of the Year for the 2014-15 season. Building on that success, Coach Edwards tied the school’s record for wins in a season (9) in 2015-16, while also taking the Blue Angels softball team to their first ever post season tournament hosted by the Great South Athletic Conference.

Prior to MMU, Coach Edwards began his softball coaching as an assistant with the Bloomington-Normal Girls Softball Association, coaching the 14U, 16U and 18U BNGSA Angels squads from 2008 to 2012.

His Angels squads compiled an overall record of 117-48 overall, including winning the 2009 Glen Ellyn Invitational, the 2010 USSSA Illinois State Championship and the 2012 ASA State Tune-up Championship. His teams also finished as runners-up at the ASA State Tune-Up in 2011 and State Farm Invitational in both 2011 and 2012 and qualified for the ASA Nationals and/or Northern Nationals in all five seasons of his tenure.
