Mount Mary vs Northland

Mount Mary vs Northland

Game Time: Tues. Jan. 5, 2016 5:30 pm
Place: Bloechl Center
NCAA Series: Lumberjills lead 8-0

After defeating Marian 67-57, Northland split a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference games including a 71-60 loss to Bethany Lutheran College. That led to the Lumberjills 4-5 (2-4) record coming into Tuesday's game.

Leading the team in both scoring and rebounds, Bethany Best is averaging 9.6 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. The six foot junior out of Cable, Wis. is pulling down 3.1 offensive rebounds per game which is a big reason she leads the team's offense.

Averaging 2.2 steals per game and 0.8 blocks per game, Best leads the attack on both sides of the court, but is not the feature or go-to-shooter by any means.

Outside of Best, the Lumberjills spread the ball around quite evenly as three players average over 9.0 points per game, including Katherine Taylor who has only one start in nine games. Taylor is effectively leading the attack off the bench and the Lumberjills continue find a ways to generate offense.

The Blue Angels begin the 2016 calendar at 1-5 on the year. Their last game was over a month ago against nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh where the Titans won 67-19. One common opponent for the two teams is Marian University, a team the Blue Angels lost to 61-30.

Leading the way for the Blue Angels is Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) with 13.7 points per game, 9.0 rebounds per game, 40.8 field goal percentage and blocks per game with 2.7. The 2.7 blocks per game leads the Great South Atlantic Conference by 0.8.
