Second half charge falls short against Principia

Milwaukee, WI- In their first game back from Thanksgiving break, the Mount Mary Blue Angels were doomed by a slow start against the Panthers of Principia College. After a 28-15 first quarter, the game was largely even as Principia knocked off the Blue Angels by a score of 81-67.

Principia held off a second half charge by the Blue Angels to move their record to 5-2.   Mount Mary always seemed to be a possesion or two away from coming back into contention, but an offensive rebound or clutch shot by the Panthers would stop Mount Mary's momentum and MMU was never able to get closer then 14 in the second half.

Mount Mary's top three scorers on the day were freshmen, Deja Rivers poured in 23, Skye Giddings 17 and Alexus Hatcher 13.  Rivers added seven rebounds and four assists, Giddings 7 assists and 6 rebounds.

India Lucas nearly totaled a triple double on the day, she recorded 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.

Mount Mary had their best shooting day of the season from behind the three point arc, knocking down 12 of 25 attempts.

The Blue Angels (1-7) will not have to wait long in their attempts to secure their second win of the season.  MMU will host Andrews University tomorrow at the Bloechl center, the game will tip at 1 pm.
