Knox uses fast break attack to beat Blue Angels

Milwaukee,WI- The Prairie Fire of Knox College took on the MMU basketball team Saturday at the Bloechl Center. The Blue Angels had won three straight in their home arena, but any hope of a fourth straight win was squashed by Knox as they used a deep bench and fast breaking attack to beat Mount Mary 89-44.

Every attempt by the Blue Angels to hang around in the contest did not last long as the Prairie Fire turned most MMU misses and turnovers into fast break opportunities.  Knox also dominated the offensive glass, grabbing 22 offensive rebounds.

Deja Rivers was the leading scorer for MMU with 17 points, she also secured 5 rebounds.  Skye Giddings had 16 points and added 7 rebounds and 6 assists on the day.

Mount Mary will not have to wait long for their next chance to get back in the win column.  The Blue Angels (4-10) will host the LumberJills of Northland College and Monday, January 2nd, at 2 pm.  The two squads met at Northland on December 12th, MMU held an 8 point lead at half but Northland turned the tables in the 3rd and 4th quarter for the win.  All coverage of Mount Mary Basketball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
