Iron Unkind as Blue Angels fall to Northland

Milwaukee,WI- Very few college basketball games come down solely to the shooting of the basketball. Unfortunately for the Blue Angels, Monday vs Northland was one of those days. MMU could never find a run of successful shooting of the ball and fell to the LumberJills 67-40.

The early stages of the game were largely even, Northland then took a 13-9 lead and never looked back.  The difference in the contest was very simply MMU's cold shooting, the Blue Angels hit only 25% from the floor, 33% from the line and coldest of all, MMU only connected on 2 of 23 three point shots.

The Blue Angels competed through the cold stretches as long as possible defensively, but the mountain of their offensive woes was too great to climb.  Deja Rivers recorded another double double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Skye Giddings scored 12 points and India Lucas recorded an impressive 12 rebounds from the guard spot.  Lucas also contributed 7 assists.

The Blue Angels (4-11) next two contests will occur in the state of Minnesota.  Thursday, January 5th, Mount Mary will head to Crown College for a 5 pm contest, and will finish up the road trip with a game at Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji on Saturday, January 8th.  Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com for all coverage of Mount Mary Basketball and athletics.
