Blue Angels Defeat Andrews- Win consecutive road games for 1st time since 2010

Berrien Springs,MI- The Cardinals of Andrews University scored the game's first basket on Tuesday evening, the Mount Mary Blue Angels would answer with an 18-0 run and from that point the game was never in question. MMU dominated Andrews and cruised to a 64-30 victory.

With the win and their prior victory at Oak Hills Christian on January 7th, the Blue Angel basketball team has now won consecutive road contests.  The last time this occured was January 8th and 15th, during the 2009-2010 season.

Defensively the Blue Angels smothered Andrews for the entire game, allowing only 9 first half points.  Taking a 29 point lead into the break, the young Blue Angel team did not let up and sustained the momentum for a 34 point victory.

Four Blue Angels scored in double digits, Skye Giddings with 16, Deja Rivers with 14, India Lucas and Alexus Hatcher each added 12.  Talesa Campbell made her presence felt with 7 points and a team leading 13 rebounds.  Rivers added 10 rebounds for her second consecutive double double, Rivers now has 7 double doubles in her first 18 collegiate games.   Rivers joins fellow first year player, Skye Giddings, averaging over 17 points per game in her first season.

Coming off 2 straight road victories, the Blue Angels will seek a third on Saturday, Jan 21st.  They will once again play in Michigan, although an entirely different part of the State.  MMU (6-12) heads to Hancock, Michigan to take on the Lions of Finlandia University.  The game is scheduled for a 11 am Central time tip off, and all coverage can be found here on www.mtmaryathletics.com
