Cold fourth quarter costs Blue Angels at Great Lakes Christian

Lansing, MI- The Mount Mary Basketball team traveled to Great Lakes Christian for their final regular season road contest of the season. The Blue Angels could never find their stride offensively and dropped a close contest by the score of 58-49.

Despite an icy first quarter from the floor (17%) and Great Lakes Christian dictating the flow of the half, MMU trailed only by 3 at halftime due to a 3 point shot by Talesa Campbell just before the half.

The game would ebb and flow in the second half, MMU took a one point advantage in the 3rd quarter.  The game was tied with 6 minutes to go, and MMU was at the line with the game tied at 47-47 but could not capitalize.

At the end of the day, MMU shot just ten percent in the 4th quarter, almost impossible to overcome, and the Blue Angels could not.  MMU had fewer turnovers and more offensive rebounds than GLCC but could not overcome one of their coldest shooting days.

Skye Giddings added to her single season scoring record with 20 points, and she added 6 rebounds and 4 steals.  India Lucas had 11 points and 8 rebounds, Talesa Campbell scored 9 to go with 5 rebounds.  Deja Rivers was MMU's leader on the glass with 13 rebounds.

Mount Mary (6-18) will have one more home contest before traveling to the Coast 2 Coast Conference tournament.  The Blue Angels will honor Senior Talesa Campbell prior to Tuesday's contest against Maranatha Baptist University.  The game is rescheduled from Thursday February 16th, tip will now be at 6 pm.
