Blue Angels Fall Just Short in Defensive Battle at MSOE

Blue Angels Fall Just Short in Defensive Battle at MSOE

Milwaukee, WI- For a 4th straight game, the Mount Mary Basketball team found themselves in a very tight game in the fourth quarter.  On Wednesday evening, the Blue Angels were on the road against the Raiders of MSOE, who carried a 3-1 record into the game.

The contest was a defensive struggle throughout, and Mount Mary battled to the finish, but in the end MSOE held on for a 47-37 win.  Both teams featured stellar defense throughout the game.  MSOE led 19-15 at half, the lead would fluctuate in the second half and MMU found themselves down eight with just two minutes to go.  Mount Mary was forced to foul and just could not come up with a enough offense to pull out the road win.

The young Blue Angels have been in every game during their last four losses, which may bode well for the team getting over the hump in upcoming contests.

Three first year players paced Mount Mary in scoring, Sanai Ballard dropped in 11 points, Vanessa Diaz 10, and Brianna Mendez 8.  Mendez was also the leading rebounder for MMU with nine.

Mount Mary (3-5) will next be in action on Sunday, December 3rd.  The Blue Angels will play at the Bloechl Center against the Cardinals of Andrews University.  The game will start at 1 pm and all live coverage will be available here on www.mtmaryathletics.com
