Remarkable comeback falls just short at Marian

Fond du Lac, WI- To say Thursday's contest at Marian got off to a nightmarish start for the Mount Mary Basketball team would be an understatement.  In the first half, MMU shot 3 of 27 from the floor and turned the ball over ten times.  Marian took a 32-12 lead into the break and would extend their lead to 45-16 in the third quarter.  Then everything turned in the contest and Mount Mary stormed back, eventually pulling to within four at 58-54 with 30 seconds to play.  Unfortunately for the Blue Angels, the comeback would stall there and the Sabres would hold on for a 59-54 win.

Mount Mary could not find a groove from behind the three point line, shooting just 6 of 35 on the evening.  MMU also went just 10 of 18 from the free throw line.  It was the second half defense of MMU that would bring them back into the contest, Marian had 21 turnovers, 14 in the second half.

Deja Rivers led Mount Mary with eighteen points, Na'Zyia Bobo had a second straight game in double digits, with 13 points, three rebounds and two assists.  Ta'Miah Jamison had her strongest game as a collegiate player, with 11 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds.  Joselyn Gonzales stuffed the stat sheet as well, with eight points, an impressive 15 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks.  The Blue Angels just could not muster enough consistent offense to knock off Marian in Thursday's contest.

Mount Mary (4-6) will now have a week off for 1st semester exams.  They will next be in action on Friday, December 15th at home.  The Blue Angels will host Northland College, the game will tip at 6 pm and all live coverage can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
