Red Hot Comets too much for Blue Angels

Red Hot Comets too much for Blue Angels

Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary basketball team came into Tuesday's contest against the University of Olivet hoping to grab a third straight win and head into the Christmas break over the .500 mark.  Unfortunately for MMU, their opponents from Michigan had different ideas as Olivet's offense was remarkably potent and they ran away from Mount Mary by a 77-46 final score.

The game was back and forth and tight through the end of the first quarter, the Comets led 18-14.  However MMU's offense stalled and Olivet continued their offensive efficiency.  Mount Mary scored just 6 points in the second quarter and Olivet went into halftime with a 36-20 lead.

Mount Mary would get no closer and their attempts to mount a comeback fell short.  Each time the Blue Angels put a run together it was stopped by an Olivet three point shot.  The Comets shot a scorching 15-40 from behind the three point line and 45.5% overall for the contest.

The Blue Angels were unable to put a single player into double digits in the point column.  India Lucas and Na'Zyia Bobo each scored 9, Joselyn Gonzales scored 8 and Brianna Mendez 7.  Gonzales also grabbed seven rebounds to lead Mount Mary.

Mount Mary (6-7) will be back in action following the Christmas Holiday.  The Blue Angels will play at home on Sunday, December 31st at 1 pm against Monmouth College.  All coverage of Mount Mary basketball can be found here on www.mtmaryathletics.com
