Victory at Andrews gives MMU Third Straight Win

Berrien Springs, MI- The Mount Mary University Basketball team was victorious over the Cardinals of Andrews University on Saturday evening.  The win was the third straight for Mount Mary and also their third straight victory away from home.  The three game winning streak on the road (12/16 at Dominican, 1/3 at Northland, 1/20 at Andrews) is the first ever three game road victory streak for the Blue Angel Basketball program.  The Blue Angels of 23-24 are also only one win away from equaling the program single season win record (10 in 2017-18) and just two victories away from setting the program record.

The Blue Angels shot out to a 10-0 lead in the contest with their pressure defense, Andrews would battle back to make the score 12-8, but the Cardinals would get no closer on the evening.  MMU led by 16 at halftime and shut down Andrews in the second half for the 74-38 win.

Na'Zyia Bobo had a stellar game off the bench, leading the Blue Angels with 23 points including 5-9 from behind the three point arc.  Joselyn Gonzales also eclipsed 20 points on the evening, she dropped in 21 to go with six rebounds and three steals.  Sanai Ballard was the third Blue Angel in double digits as she scored 10.  India Lucas paced MMU in rebounds as she snared an impressive 13 along with 3 assists and two steals.

Having won three straight and six of their last nine, Mount Mary (9-8) will continue on the road through the month of January.  Their next contest will be Wednesday, January 24th at Buena Vista University.  Tip time is 5:30 pm and all coverage is available on www.mtmaryathletics.com
