Ice Cold at Lake Forest

Ice Cold at Lake Forest

Lake Forest, IL- The Mount Mary basketball team headed into Wednesday's contest at Lake Forest College hoping to rebound from a tough offensive performance in their prior game at Great Lakes Christian.  The Blue Angels did not break out offensively however against the Foresters, and cold shooting cost MMU a second straight road contest.  Mount Mary fell to Lake Forest by a final score of 71-45.

The Blue Angels shot just 29% from the floor and 7-30 from the three point line (23.3%).  They also struggled from the charity stripe, going 6-15 from the foul line.  Lake Forest took a 37-15 lead into half time, largely due to MMU's inability to find the range.  The second half saw Mount Mary pick up their defensive pressure and stage a short rally.  However it was not enough to climb out of the deep hole.

Deja Rivers and Brianna Mendez each scored eleven points to lead Mount Mary.  Mendez added nine rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Na'Zyia Bobo also scored nine points for MMU on the evening.

Mount Mary (9-10) will play their first home game in over a month in their next contest.  The Blue Angels will host Maranatha Baptist University on Monday, February 5th at 7 pm.  A victory for Mount Mary would tie the all-time program high win total and leave the 23-24 Blue Angels just one win short of setting a new program high for single season wins.  All coverage of MMU basketball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
