Red Hot Beloit knocks off Blue Angels

Red Hot Beloit knocks off Blue Angels

Beloit, WI- Seeking a record setting victory, the Mount Mary Basketball team headed to Beloit College on Wednesday evening.  The Bucs were less than welcoming hosts however, as they shot the ball unbelievably well and ran away from the Blue Angels by a final score of 88-56.

Beloit's hot start combined with a cold start by MMU put Mount Mary in a 22-4 hole at the end of the first quarter.  The Blue Angels would pull to within 27-14 but got no closer on the evening.  Mount Mary's offense picked up in the second half but Beloit could not be stopped.

Beloit shot 33-69 from the field (47.8%) and a staggering 12-26 (46.2 %) from the behind the three point line.  There was no stopping Beloit in the contest.

Mount Mary saw four players score in double digits, Na'Zyia Bobo and Sanai Ballard each scored 11.  Deja Rivers scored 10, as did Alexus Hatcher, who had missed the previous two games due to injury.  Ballard, Rivers and Brianna Mendez paced Mount Mary with seven rebounds each.

Mount Mary (10-11) will have some time to regroup before they continue their quest to set a new single season program wins record with one more victory.  Their next contest will be Thursday, February 15th at Maranatha Baptist University.  All coverage of MMU basketball can be found on www.mtmaryathletics.com
