Mount Mary University first year player Brianna Mendez has been named the Coast to Coast Conference rookie of the year. She was also named 2nd team all-conference when the league announced their basketball honors earlier in the week.
Mendez has had a standout first season for the Blue Angels, averaging over 10 points and 7 rebounds per game. This is the second consecutive season in which a Blue Angel player has been named rookie of the year, following Deja Rivers receiving the honor following the 2022-23 season.
Mount Mary begins the Coast to Coast conference tournament today in the quarterfinals of the six team event against Salisbury at 4 pm Central time. MMU has achieved a record setting season, setting new program highs in overall wins, winning percentage, and home and road victories.
