Elmhurst, IL- The Elmhurst University Blue Jays took control early and would never relinquish it in Thursday evening's contest against the Mount Mary Basketball team. Any hope of a 3-0 start for the Blue Angels was shut down by Elmhurst getting out to a 12-0 lead and never looking back. Elmhurst would defeat Mount Mary by a final score of 94-40.
Elmhurst used a combination of pressure defense, relentless offensive rebounding and hot shooting from three to stop the Blue Angels from being able to stay close. They forced MMU into 33 turnovers and shot 42.5% from the floor.
The Blue Angels were led in scoring by Sanai Ballard and Na'Zyia Bobo, who each scored nine. Deja Rivers and Avery Gorn each added eight for Mount Mary.
Mount Mary (2-1) will return home for their next contest. Monday, November 18th, will be the third annual "What made you smile today kid" classic between the Blue Angels and Alverno.
