Milwaukee, WI- Saturday saw the Mount Mary University Basketball team defeat Northland College by a final score of 66-51. In addition to leveling their record at 5-5, the Blue Angels have now won an all time program record seven straight games at the Bloechl Center, with their last loss occurring on December 31st, 2023.
Mount Mary took a 41-28 lead into the half behind hot three point shooting and an explosive offensive effort off of the bench by Na'Zyia Bobo. Bobo followed up her twenty point performance Friday at Eureka with a 14 point effort Saturday against Northland.
The Blue Angels shot 34.5% from behind the arc (10-29) and 10 for 11 from the free throw line and held Northland off in the second half for the 15 point victory.
Eight different players scored for MMU, three in double digits and two players adding nine each. Behind Bobo's 14, Vanessa Diaz and Deja Rivers each added 12. India Lucas and Sanai Ballard each narrowly missed double doubles on the day, Lucas scoring nine points and grabbing a team leading twelve rebounds, and Ballard scoring nine with eight rebounds. Lucas also paced Mount Mary with four assists on the afternoon, while Rivers contributed three assists along with her twelve points.
The Blue Angels (5-5) will have one more contest before the Christmas Break. On Wednesday, December 18th, MMU will head to Chicago to take on Illinois Institute of Technology. The game will tip at 12 pm and all live coverage is available on www.mtmaryathletics.com
