Slow Start dooms Blue Angels at IIT

Chicago, IL- The Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Institute of Technology shot out to a 14-0 lead against the Mount Mary Basketball team on Wednesday.  Mount Mary could not recover from the rough beginning and fell to IIT by a final score of 76-49.

The Blue Angels would battle back and an Alexus Hatcher three point shot would send MMU into half time trailing by only 11.  That would be as close as the contest would get as Mount Mary could not sustain the momentum in the second half.  Illinois Tech was hot from three (9-26) and domintated the offensive glass with 20 offensive rebounds.

Vanessa Diaz paced the Blue Angels in scoring with 19, India Lucas added 11 and came up one rebound short of a double double with her team leading nine rebounds.

Chloe Louis was second on the team in rebounds on Wednesday, with 4 rebounds in just ten minutes of action.  Sanai Ballard dropped in seven points and Avery Gorn added 6.

The Blue Angels (5-6) will now be off from game action until December 28th.  The Blue Angels will host Manchester University that evening, it will be the first of six games for Mount Mary between December 28th and January 11th, with 5 of those contests occuring at the Bloechl Center.
