Milwaukee, WI- The Mount Mary basketball team played host to Manchester University on Saturday, hoping to even their record on the season and grab an eighth straight home victory. The Spartans of Manchester used pressure defense and relentless offensive rebounding to deny the Blue Angels on both counts.
MMU trailed 30-22 at half and Manchester would then pull away for a 75-49 victory. The Blue Angels were forced into 28 turnovers and Manchester secured 18 offensive rebounds, the deciding factors on the evening.
Manchester shot 43.9% from the floor while MMU shot only 29.6%. The size and physicality of the Spartans prevented Mount Mary from finding their pace on offense.
Vanessa Diaz dropped in thirteen points to lead Mount Mary and Alexus Hatcher added 10. Hatcher also recorded four rebounds and two steals. India Lucas paced MMU in rebounds and assists with seven and three respectively.
MMU will not have to wait long for their next home contest. The Blue Angels (5-7) will host Beloit College on Monday, December 30th. The game will tip at 1 pm and all coverage is available on www.mtmaryathletics.com
