Milwaukee, WI- On a day in which they honored Senior players, India Lucas and Alyssen Noriega, the Mount Mary Basketball team shot out to a hot start and never looked back in a 82-42 decisive win over Grace Christian University.
The Blue Angels came out red hot from three point range and took a 47-21 lead into intermission. MMU then cruised in the second half to finish out the 40 point victory.
Mount Mary drilled thirteen three point shots, paced by seven from Avery Gorn and four from Vanessa Diaz. Gorn scored a career high 27 points, Diaz dropped in 14, Alexus Hatcher added 13 points and a team high 12 rebounds.
On her senior day, India Lucas did what has become her staple, played a fantastic all-around game. She scored thirteen points, had eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Lucas has already carved out her place in the Mount Mary record books, she places top ten all-time at Mount Mary in points, rebounds, assistants and steals.
Alyssen Noriega was also recognized for her many contributions to MMU Basketball. Noriega has been part of the winningest two year period in program history, and Lucas has been part of the winningest three year stretch in program history.
The Blue Angels claimed their 9th win of the 24-25 season with Saturday's victory, 9 wins in a single season is the third most in program history, behind 10 wins in the 18-19 season and last season's record setting 12 wins.
Mount Mary (9-13) has two road contests remaining before returning home for the Coast to Coast conference tournament in late February. The two game road trip will begin on Thursday, February 13th, when the Blue Angels head to Watertown to take on Maranatha Baptist University.
