Blue Angels finish regular season with decisive win

Watertown, WI- Thursday evening at Maranatha Baptist University, the Mount Mary Basketball team started the game on an 8-0 run and never looked back.  Rolling to a 60-29 victory over Maranatha, it was Mount Mary's 10th win of the season, marking the first time in program history the Blue Angels have won double digit games in back to back seasons.

The Blue Angels used relentless pressure on defense to control the contest, forcing MBU into 42 turnovers.  Remarkably, Mount Mary shot 24 free throws to just four for the Sabercats.

India Lucas continued her amazingly solid senior season, Lucas scored 13 points, had 9 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists.  Sanai Ballard also scored 13 and Alexus Hatcher added ten.  Joselyn Gonzales scored 7, while Avery Gorn and Vanessa Diaz scored six.  Diaz also dished out 7 assists.

The Blue Angels wrap up the regular season at 10-13, ten victories being the second most in program history, behind only last season's 12 wins.  The 22 wins in two seasons is the most ever in a 2 year span, and MMU's 29 wins in the last three seasons is the winningest three year span in program history.

Next up for MMU will be the Coast to Coast Conference Tournament, which will be played at the Bloechl Center beginning February 27th.  The seeding and match ups for the tournament will be announced on February 24th.  For all coverage of the tournament and Mount Mary Basketball, stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com
