Lions score late goal to beat Blue Angels

HANCOCK, Mich. – The Mount Mary soccer team held Friday's game at Finlandia scoreless until the 81st minute, but a late goal handed the Blue Angels their sixth straight loss.

The Lions, who beat Mount Mary 4-0 in late September, outshot MMU 31-1. The Blue Angels' only shot came from freshman Alyssa Schall (Plymouth, Wis.), and failed to put a shot on goal against Finlandia's nine.

Senior Ashley Leverenz (Mauston, Wis.) returned to goal for Mount Mary after missing four games with a head injury sustained in the last contest against Finlandia. She returned as a defender against Blackburn and Lakeland, but was finally cleared to play in goal earlier this week.

The Blue Angels return to action Tuesday afternoon as they host Lincoln Christian University at 4:00 pm. The Red Lions soundly defeated Mount Mary 14-1 on October 3, in a match missing several key Blue Angel contributors.
