Big Week For Blue Angels Starts Against Red Lions

Big Week For Blue Angels Starts Against Red Lions

After a tough 2-0 defeat last Saturday, Mount Mary University soccer will have a chance to get back on the right track to finish the season. In a well-deserved home stand, the Blue Angels will play Lincoln Christian University for the second time this season on home turf. The match at Mount Mary Field, is set for Tuesday Oct. 21st at 4:00 pm.

In the first match between the teams this season, the Red Lions had trouble slowing down Ashley Lehnen (Fr./Sussex, Wis.) who had a hand, or rather a foot, in every goal scored in the 3-0 victory for the Blue Angels. Lehnen got the offense started early in the game, in the ninth minute of play Lehnen took a shot off a pass from Emily Ristow (Jr./Sheboygan, Wis.) to score the game's first goal.

Lehnen scored goal two with 25 minutes left in the first half. That was not all for the Blue Angels freshman, Lehnen set up Emily Ristow in the 79th minute to cap off her performance. A truly break out game for the rookie, as it demonstrated where the Blue Angels may look towards offensively once Ristow graduates at the end of the 2014 season.

Although Ristow missed the last contest, she leads the team with 16 goals, and MMU all-time with 61. With a four goal game just seven days prior, Ristow is looking to end her collegiate career on a hot streak.

Following Tuesday's contest, the Blue Angels will host Robert Morris-Lake County the next day. It will be the first match between the schools this season. The game will again be at Mount Mary Field and is set for Wednesday Oct. 22nd at 3:30 pm.
