Blue Angels soccer is getting ready for their final road game of the 2014 season. The contest is against Robert Morris-Lake County, and is the second game between the two teams in a week. The second match is set for Tuesday Oct. 28th with kickoff at 2:30 pm in Waukegan, Ill.
In the last match between the two teams, Mount Mary University went on a serious tear on both sides of the field. MMU limited the Eagles to only six shots on the day, and controlled the ball for much of the contest. A ridiculous scoring output by Emily Ristow (Jr./Sheboygan, Wis.) took the game from a 0-0 tie at 22 minutes to a 3-0 lead for MMU at the end of the 25th minute. It was the third contest that Ristow dropped four goals in regulation.
Besides Ristow scoring, Nina Her (Sr./Brown Deer, Wis.) had two goals, and both Marissa Rechlicz (Fr./West Allis, Wis.) and Becky Onan (Fr./Grafton, Wis.) played a half as goalkeeper and scored one goal on offense in the opposite half.
The all-time series between the institutions is 6-5-1 in favor of RMLC. Last season the teams split the series 1-1, the first was a 3-1 victory for MMU and the second RMLC took control early and held on 5-2. Out of the five goals that the Blue Angels scored in those two games, Ristow had four.
After the rematch against Robert Morris-Lake County, Mount Mary University will host their season finale on Thursday. The game is against fellow Milwaukee All-Women's institution Alverno College. Another rematch for the Blue Angels, this one is set for Oct. 30th on Mount Mary Field with a 3:30 pm kickoff.
