Muskies Top Blue Angels

PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Mount Mary University soccer team lost to host Lakeland College 4-0 Wednesday afternoon. The loss moves the Blue Angels to 0-6 on the year, and makes the Muskies 2-4.

The Muskies took the lead early in this one, and never surrendered it after the 16 minute mark when Tiffany Fischer of Lakeland scored the team's first goal. Following that, Lakeland added goals from Taryn Allen and Brianne Frank respectively to make it 3-0 at half.

In the second half, the Blue Angels slowed down the Muskies holding them to just 18 shots. Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) saved 12 of the 13 shots on goal in the second. Melissa Noll got one of those past Onan making it 4-0 at the 63:31 mark.

Offensively, Logan Ormeroid (Jr./New Berlin, Wis.) led the Blue Angels with one shot on goal. Onan led the game with 22 saves, and adds that to her NCAA DIII leading saves total which is now at 97.

The Muskies offense spread the goals around evenly, but Taryn Allen led the offensive assault with 18 shots of her own, eight of which were on goal. Tiffany Fischer was right behind her in the totals, with eight shots, seven on goal.

Following the game against the Muskies, the Blue Angels host Grace Bible College. The Tigers come to Mount Mary Field Fri. Sept. 18. Kickoff for the Tigers/Blue Angels clash is set for 4:30. Live stats will be available on mtmaryathletics.com.
