Sabercats Take Win

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University soccer team lost to visiting Maranatha Baptist University 8-0 today at Mount Mary Field. The loss makes the Blue Angels 0-10 on the year and the Sabercats are now 3-2-1.

The Blue Angels had focused on slowing down the opposition in the game today, but the fired up Sabercats had something else in mind. In the first half the Sabercats got started early as Anna Dahl received a setup pass from Audrey Risma that led to the first goal of the game at 4:54.

Dahl returned the favor about 15 minutes later as Risma knocked one past the outstretched hands of Marissa Rechlicz (So./West Allis, Wis.). The Sabercats went into half with a 3-0 lead, and also led the shooting category 23-0 over MMU.

Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) led the Blue Angels with one shot on goal. Ashley Pfiefer (Fr./Elkhart Lake, Wis.) and Karina Salgado (Fr./Chicago, Ill.) each had one shot in the second half to tie for the team lead.

The Sabercats continued the shootout in the second half, launch 23 more shots and getting five of those in the net to finish the game 8-0. Anna Dahl led the game with two goals of her own along with three assists.

Following today's game, the Blue Angels will get ready to host two games next week. First on the schedule is Grace Bible College. The Tigers come to town Sat. Oct. 3 starting at 12:00 pm.
