Tigers Take Game Two

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University soccer team lost to visiting Grace Bible College 6-0 today at Mount Mary Field. The loss moves the Blue Angels to 0-11 on the 2015 campaign and makes the Tigers 5-2-2.

The Tigers came out in the first half attacking the MMU goal with consistency firing 17 shots on goal. MMU's defense contained the Tigers offense until the 19 minute mark, when Jessica Pegg knocked in the first goal to make it 1-0 Grace Bible. Just seconds later, the Tigers set themselves up for a breakaway goal by Debbie Pekel making it 2-0.

Going into the half, the Blue Angels trailed 5-0 after another goal by Pekel and two goals setup by Pekel to Kiley Fawley. Marissa Rechlicz (So./West Allis, Wis.) went the first 45 minutes in goal, and saved 12 shots.

Coming out of half, the Blue Angels made a goalkeeper switch putting Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) in front of the net. The Tigers added one more goal on their second shot of the half making it 6-0. After that, Onan denied every shot on goal until the game's completion. Onan finished with 17 saves in her 45 minutes in goal.

Offensively, the Blue Angels were led by Onan and Ashley Pfeifer (Fr./Elkhart Lake, Wis.) with one shot on goal each.

Pekel finished with two goals and three assists on the day. Her teammate Kiley Fawley had two goals as well.

Following today's game, the Blue Angels will prepare for Andrews University. The Cardinals will face MMU on Mount Mary Field Sun. Oct. 4 beginning at 12:00 pm.
