Storm Overtake Blue Angels

ST BONIFACIUS, Minn. – As the Mount Mary University soccer team ends their final road trip of the 2015 season, the Blue Angels suffered a 10-0 loss to host Crown. The Storm improve to 4-12-1 on the year while the Blue Angels drop to 2-16.

Still trying to muscle through the late season injuries, the Blue Angels were shorthanded again. Down to just eight players, the Storm went on the offensive right away scoring four minutes into the contest. Katelyn Carter knocked in the first two goals paving the way to a 6-0 score at half.

In the second half, the Blue Angels changed up the defensive lineup removing Becky Onan (So./Grafton, Wis.) from goal and placing Tataya Luangphaxayachack (Fr./Milwaukee, Wis.) in as goalkeeper for the first time in her collegiate career.

The Blue Angels held the Storm to 15 shots in the second half, four got past Luangphaxayachack. Those goals led to the 10-0 shutout, and the end of the long road trip for MMU.

On offense, the Blue Angels had one shot from Katy Groth (Fr./Racine, Wis.). For the Storm, Tiffany Krueger led the way with a hat trick and an assist.

Now the Blue Angels will head home to prepare for their longtime rival Alverno. The Inferno are 2-14 on the season with a 4-0 win over the Blue Angels earlier in year. After a 3-2 win over Finlandia, the Inferno dropped two in a row since. MMU will take on Alverno for the 2015 regular season finale Fri. Oct. 30 at Mount Mary Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
