Blue Angels Drop Match to Storm

ST. BONIFACIUS – Today at the KleinBank Stadium, the Mount Mary University soccer team lost 10-0 to host Crown College (1-0). The Blue Angels (0-2) battled through an assortment of injuries, but had to end play at the 70-minute mark after the injuries forced MMU's hand.

Although outnumbered, the Blue Angels kept the opposition on their heels early on in the contest. 14 minutes into the contest, however, the Storm landed their first of seven goals in the first half. Anna Kragt knocked in her first of three goals to open things up; the junior forward has scored a goal in every contest she has played against the Blue Angels dating back to 2016.

The Storm took 25 shots in the first half, with 18 on goal. Goalkeeper Hannah Rose (Jr./Jeromesville, Ohio) was able to save 11 of those shots in the first half. The junior would finish the contest with 18 saves in total; Rose currently leads the American Collegiate Athletic Conference with 28 saves.

In the second half, the Storm scored their first of three goals five minutes into the frame. MMU withstood for another 17 minutes before Katelyn Carter of the Storm hit her third of four goals in the contest to make things 9-0. Not long after her fourth goal at 68 minutes, the game was called when the Blue Angels fell under the seven-player minimum.

Karina Salgado (Sr./Chicago, Ill.) led the offense for the Blue Angels with three shots, two of which were on goal.

After today, the Blue Angels will return home Fri. Sept. 7. Kickoff for the Blue Angels home opener is set for 3:00 pm, with live stats available at MtMaryAthletics.com. Check back for updates, news and info on the Blue Angels.
