Regents Grab Victory

MILWAUKEE – The Mount Mary University soccer team lost to the visiting Rockford Regents today at Blue Angels Soccer Field. The Regents won 4-1 over the Blue Angels making MMU 1-11 on the season.

The game started with the Regents on the attack. Despite RU taking the first four shots on goal, the Blue Angels were able to make their first shot of the game count.

After Halee Van de Boom (So./Saukville, Wis.) hit a corner kick to the middle of the box, a couple deflections saw the ball trickle outside to where Van de Boom controlled it. The freshman quickly unloaded on a deep shot that bent into the goal.

The Regents responded ten minutes later when  Jessivel Uribe drilled a pass from teammate Alexis Keener past the outstretched finger tips of Hannah Rose (Jr./Jeromesville, Ohio).

The game remained tied 1-1 for the next 20 minutes. Nearing the half's conclusion, Jessivel Uribe found another opening. This time teammate Erin DiSanti set Uribe up for her second goal of the game.

RU outshot the Blue Angels in the first half 18-2 with 11 of the Regents shots on goal.

In the second half, the Regents continued to apply pressure. This time, the Regents hammered 17 shots as a team. The Blue Angels kept RU out of the goal until the 72-minute mark. Andrea Escobar received Erin DiSanti's second assist of the game making things 3-1.

Ten minutes later, Uribe received a cross from teammate Cassandra Hernandez. Uribe promptly shot the ball at MMU's goal and just cleared the reach of Rose into the net.

Rose finished the game with 17 saves. Near the end of their season, Rose leads the American Collegiate Athletic Association with 182 saves on the season; Second place in the ACAA has 72 saves.

After today's game, the Blue Angels will return to action Sun. Oct. 14 at 1:00 pm on Blue Angels Soccer Field. The rematch against the Finlandia University Lions will have both live stats and video available at MtMaryAthletics.com.
