Storm Rally Late

ST. BONIFACIUS, MINN. – Today at Old National Stadium, the host Crown College Storm defeated the Mount Mary University Blue Angels 2-0. After the teams ended the first half 0-0, the Storm (2-3) scored two goals late to grab the victory over the Blue Angels (1-4).

The Storm attacked early and often in the Saturday showdown in Minnesota. The Blue Angels continued to adjust to the pressure put forth by Crown. MMU forced the opposition to space out their 16 shots, and Hannah Rose (Sr./Jeromesville, Ohio) was up to the challenge coming away with nine saves in the first half.

The Blue Angels traded possession with Crown throughout the half, but could not come away with an official shot on goal.

After a 0-0 first half, the Storm continued to attack on offense. The Blue Angels turned Crown away for the first 60 minutes of play. After over a dozen saves by Rose, Crown's Zoe Korn found Anna Kragt inside MMU territory. Kragt received the pass and bent a shot into the net to give the Storm the 1-0 lead.

Rose turned away a handful more attempts on goal over the next 20 minutes. With nine minutes left to go in regulation, Zoe Kron received a pass from teammate Ally Adams, which Kron promptly put into MMU's goal. The score moved the score to 2-0.

Hannah Rose finished the contest with 22 saves as she led the American Collegiate Athletic Association in saves coming into today's contest.

One yellow card was given to Kaylie Cook (So./Fairborn, Ohio) late in the second half, it was the only penalty of the like during the contest.

MMU returns to action Tue. Sept. 17 at Blue Angels Soccer Field. The Blue Angels will look to host longtime rival Alverno College at 4:00 pm at MMU's home field. Live stats and video will be available for Tuesday's contest at MtMaryAthletics.com.
