Milwaukee, WI- Thursday saw the home debut of the 2024 Mount Mary University Soccer team and first year head coach Peter Knebel. The Blue Angels played host to the Regents of Rockford University.
Rockford provided more of an offensive punch on the match and defeated MMU by a score of 7-1.
The Regents took a 4-0 lead into intermission. Brianna Brown was once again challenged in net, in the first half she recorded seven saves.
The Regents would add three second half tallies, but the Blue Angels had a highlight of their own. In the game's 55th minute, Carolyn Abraham drilled a picture-perfect free kick from just outside the box into the back of the net, putting the Blue Angels on the board.
Brianna Brown recorded twelve saves for the match, her stellar play combined with continued offensive growth from the Mount Mary side are signs that bode well for the future.
Mount Mary (0-3) will have a second consecutive home match next on their schedule. The Blue Angels will host the Cardinals of Andrews University. That match is scheduled for a 2 pm start on Sunday, September 8th. Stay tuned to www.mtmaryathletics.com for all coverage of Blue Angel Soccer.
