Milwaukee, WI- Sunday provided another opportunity for the Mount Mary soccer team to secure their first win of the season, as the Blue Angels hosted the Cardinals of Andrews University. It was an opportunity the Blue Angels would take full advantage of, defeating Andrews by a score of 4-1.
It was the first win of the season for the Blue Angels, and the first collegiate victory for Mount Mary Head Coach Peter Knebel.
Mount Mary struck early and often, with three goals in the 1st half. Carolyn Abraham scored twice and Amanda Antonio once to send MMU into the halftime break with a 3-0 lead.
Each team scored one goal in the second half, Mount Mary's score was again provided by Abraham. Carolyn Abraham recorded a hat trick against Andrews, and has scored an impressive four goals in the last two matches.
In addition to her goal, Amanda Antonio recorded an assist, as did Evelyn Cerda and Yasmin Guerrero. The Blue Angels controlled the match almost entirely, recording four times as many shots on goal as Andrews.
Coming off of the victory, Mount Mary (1-3) will now have a week to catch their breath and prepare for their next opponent, the Edgewood College Eagles.
