St. Paul, Minn. – Mount Mary's longest tennis win streak in school history was snapped Saturday morning at the hand of host Macalester College in convincing 8-1 fashion.

The match, which was originally scheduled as a five-team scramble-style tournament, was forced indoors after a fall storm rolled through east central Minnesota. That left the host Scots with a dual match against Mount Mary, and while Macalester plays the majority of its tennis season in the spring, the Scots appeared in mid-season form.

Mount Mary's lone victory came at No. 2 doubles, as the tandem of senior Katie Wolk (Oshkosh, Wis.) and freshman Ana Mercado (Grafton, Wis.) won in a very tight 9-7 tiebreak set. The tandem of senior Briana Lock (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Brooke Slamka (Racine, Wis.) dropped a close 8-5 decision while the No. 1 doubles were swept 8-0.

In singles competition, Mount Mary didn't fare too much better as only sophomore Krista Olson (Brookfield, Wis.) managed to record more than three game victories, falling 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.

The Blue Angels are back in action Sunday, looking to start a new win streak at Wisconsin-Stout. Game time between the Blue Angels and Blue Devils is set for 11 a.m. in Menomonie.
