WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Mount Mary tennis team smashed the previous school record for season victories, as the Blue Angels disposed Milwaukee School of Engineering 6-3 Tuesday evening at Hart Park.

Taking home two out of three doubles matches and four of six singles showdowns, the Blue Angels improved to 5-5 on the year, surpassing the previous wins mark of four set several seasons ago.

The Blue Angel tandem of senior Katie Wolk (Oshkosh, Wis.) and freshman Ana Mercado (Grafton, Wis.) swept their Raider foes at No. 2 doubles. Senior Briana Lock (Milwaukee, Wis.) and sophomore Brooke Slamka (Racine, Wis.) added an 8-1 victory as Mount Mary took at 2-1 lead entering singles play.

Mercado notched the first singles win, sweeping MSOE's Ashley Albrecht 6-0, 6-0 in flight No. 2, and senior Emily Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) followed suit shortly thereafter with her first victory of the season in 6-0, 6-1.

Lock and senior Kay Reynoso (Brookfield, Wis.) dropped their respective matches to tighten the overall record at 4-3, but freshman Andrea Monacelli (Sussex, Wis.) and Wolk secured 6-4, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-4 respective victories to seal Mount Mary's fifth win of the year.

Having already set a new wins mark, Mount Mary can continue to rewrite the history books Thursday in a rematch with Alverno. With a victory, the Blue Angels can record their first ever winning season since acquiring NCAA affiliation. Game time against the rival Inferno is slated for 4:30 at Hart Park.
