FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mount Mary's tennis program has already come a long way just two weeks into this season, battling all four opponents to the very end.

Sunday's matinee at Marian University was no different as the match came down to the ultimate tiebreak at No. 3 singles. Despite taking the first set 6-4, senior Katie Wolk (Oshkosh, Wis.) dropped the second 7-6 (7-4) and ran out of gas in the third-set tiebreak 10-0.

Unfortunately, that loss was also the deciding match as host Marian handed the Blue Angels their third straight loss, 5-4.

Mount Mary surged into the lead after doubles play as Wolk and freshman Ana Mercado (Grafton, Wis.) as well as the tandem of senior Kat Reynoso (Brookfield, Wis.) and freshman Andrea Monacelli (Sussex, Wis.) taking matches at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

The Sabres, however, roared back to sweep singles play at No. 1 through No. 5 in several very tough matchups. Monacelli took a default victory at No. 6 singles, while sophomore Krista Olson (Appleton, Wis.) dropped another tight 7-5, 6-4 final score in flight No. 5.

Despite its now 1-3 overall record, Mount Mary has picked up some definite confidence this season, especially among its younger core of players.

The Blue Angels will next be in action Tuesday, traveling to the Lakefront's McKinley Park for a 4 p.m. matchup against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
